…like my mother and it will most probably sensitise men a little more towards women. I can imagine the courage and the faith that was required of Enice to write this book. I want to congratulate her for this source of inspiration that she shares with us and for the many testimonies that are found in her book.

Without a doubt the people who will have the privilege of reading your autobiography will be able to step back into their past while questioning themselves. There is no age limit to question ourselves, everyone has the possibility to do so.

I have read the summary of Enice’s book. I am deeply touched by her story and very impressed with the narrative’s simplicity. It is well written and we find in it many emotions. I am looking forward to reading her book. I believe that this book will have a positive impact on most women.

A testimony of moving sincerity and of rare authenticity. What first struck me in Enice’s narrative, is the candour manifested by the storyteller from the very first lines of the text. The result: we keep a constant interest for the story, told in an alert and unflourished style. Up until the last page we are overcome by the most contradictory feelings: irritation and compassion, revolt and tenderness, resentment and solidarity. A Woman Amongst Others is above all else an extremely courageous undertaking, which dares to bare for all to see the failings and insufficiencies of the Haitian woman and of the Haitian men. It will offend well-meaning souls, but its reading reveals itself indispensable for all the people who will not be blinded by their prejudice and who desire the progress of the human species.

What I thought was most interesting was the author’s belief in God and how she viewed Him as her confidant. Her strong faith is inspirational. Also I felt a lot of sympathy when she described the numerous difficulties she has experienced…. it’s a very good book.

I believe that the author gives us very well the overwhelming aspect of the situation that she is living which might seem difficult to understand. In fact, I get lost in my personal impressions of the narrative... The end is a great big breath of fresh air, it is a physical experience. This is why I find that the theme of liberty is central in this narrative; the narrator has undertaken a long quest to reach it. As the author says herself, the end makes you feel good in thanks for having distanced herself from the past. She has been solely responsible for her liberation.
